My name is Liz and I currently live in Charlotte, NC with my fiancé Pete and our golden retriever.
I'm a former pharmacist that used to work for a large retail pharmacy chain. I worked 13 hour back to back shifts, holidays, every other weekend, and often until close. I barely had time to use the bathroom, eat meals, and was often anxious at work. I realized after a year and and half that I wasn't happy with the lifestyle retail pharmacy gave me no matter the paycheck.
My 2nd year in pharmacy school, before I met Pete, I discovered P90X and Shakeology through a YouTube Video. I was at my wits end when it came to losing weight. I would go to the gym and spend most of my time on a treadmill or elliptical. I thought cardio is what I needed. Healthy eating to me meant a frozen meal, and for some reason I had the mentality that if I was working out I could still have Wendy's and everything would be okay.
P90X, drinking Shakeology daily, and having a coach to keep me accountable to my health and fitness goals made all the difference. I had Tony Horton on my television every evening teaching me how to lift weights and walking me through every single exercise; I had a superfood nutrition supplement I drank every day to help me get the nutrients my body needed to build lean muscle and drop the body fat; and I had a coach to help me kick my excuses and encourage me every step of the way.
I fell in love with the Beachbody community. Everyone was supportive, encouraging, and goal driven. Surrounding myself with those kind of people helped me break out of my negative self talk.
For 9 months I was a customer watching these women I really admired become coaches and help other women do exactly what our coaches were helping us do. Giving encouragement to other people and supporting them through their own programs is exactly what a coach does. It took me a while before I realized it was a business opportunity.
I remember thinking how cool it would be to start a business doing something I loved.
My first goal was to pay for my own products each month. Once I hit that goal it started to snowball. I eventually was paying for my bills with Beachbody and 2.5 years into the business was earning enough that I felt ready and confident to leave my retail pharmacy job. When I started coaching that was definitely a dream of mine, but it sounded silly to even think it, but it happened.
The opportunity to generate a full time income from home became more important thinking about a family one day. With mine and Pete's schedules that would have been tough. He often flies to job sites across the country and can be gone for 2-3 days at a time. With me working 13 hour shifts, child care would have been hard to find.
It's crazy to me that in 2.5 years I was able to put those worries to rest. I no longer spend the best hours of my day building someone else's dream, I'm building my own. I am building for financial freedom and I have the honor of mentoring other women how to do the exact same thing. That is special to me.
